Restylane dermal fillers keep Brooklyn, NY young

The Restylane family of dermal fillers is one of the best weapons against aging in Brooklyn, NY. There are several formulas in the collection, all of which are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), which binds with water molecules to hydrate and plump skin. The HA found in Restylane lasts much longer than that naturally present in skin.

Why do we get wrinkles?

Skin, just like every other part of the body, changes over time. As the body creates less collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, skin becomes thinner, drier, and lax. It loses suppleness and elasticity. Meanwhile, underlying structures – fat pads, muscle, and bone – diminish with age, allowing skin to sag. Though it may not be readily visible for a while, this process begins in our 20s, and accelerates from sun exposure, smoking, and stress.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a smooth, colorless gel formulation available in varying thicknesses. It is placed into skin layers to restore lost volume and improve the appearance of the skin. Millions of dermal filler procedures have been performed in this country to help men and women achieve smoother complexions without surgery, while maintaining natural expressions.

Over time, the human body produces less collagen and HA. Thus, the skin loses structure and begins to wrinkle and sag. Injections of Restylane restore volume and stimulate collagen growth. Treatment immediately plumps skin, lifts facial features, and fills wrinkles. Then, as the body is motivated to generate more collagen, skin becomes naturally thicker and firmer.

What can Restylane be used for?

Restylane fillers are designed to replicate the HA naturally found in skin, only better. Because HA is a natural skin component, the risk of allergy is virtually eliminated. Yet, the sophisticated manufacturing process yields a resilient gel that lasts for months when injected into the skin.

With five Restylane products to choose from, this treatment is ideal for:

  • Taking control of your appearance
  • Reducing the overall appearance of facial wrinkles and folds, and other signs of facial volume loss
  • Treatment of moderate smile and laugh lines
  • Correction of deep smile and laugh lines
  • Adding fulness to lips and smoothing perioral lines
  • Restoring volume to cheeks, temples, and other hollows
  • Contouring the nose or chin
  • Smoothing boniness and visible veins in backs of hands

Restylane and how it works explained by Dr. Tatiana Khrom
One of Dr. Tatiana Khrom recommended fillers is Restylane. Restylane is the very first FDA approved filler that came to market in United States in early 2000. Dr. Tatiana Khrom from Khrom Dermatology & Aesthetics Brooklyn, NY talks in detail regarding the two different technologies of Restylane available : 1. NASHA Technology 2. What is Restylane?

Restylane is a family of fillers that have been improved in the United States since the early 2000s. It was the very first filler FDA approved in the United States. It remains one of my favorite fillers today.

What are the two different technologies in Restylane?

Within the Restylane family, two different technologies exist. They are NASHA technology and XpresHAn technology of Restylane fillers.

The NASHA technology of Restylane fillers encompasses Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Silk. Those fillers contain microparticles that are excellent in filling out defects in structure and gives predictable results when injected into a certain area and fills out the deficit in volume.

The XpresHAn technology of Restylane fillers is a novel spring like technology which allows the Restylane to refine and define fillers that belongs to this new XpresHAn technology.

Where can Restylane be used?

It gives a beautiful result in areas that are prone to movements such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. By the virtue of the spring-like nature of these fillers, they are not visible and incorporate beautifully into the tissue.

Who is a candidate for Restylane treatment?

In capable hands, dermal filler treatment is very safe, and all genuine Restylane products used at Khrom Dermatology & Aesthetics are FDA approved. Soft tissue fillers are safe for all skin types and ethnicities, with minimal risk of side effects.

The doctor will likely not recommend this treatment if you:

  • Are under 22 years of age
  • Are pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Are presently using (or have recently used) blood thinning medications
  • Have a bleeding disorder
  • Have known allergies to gram-positive bacteria or other microorganisms
  • Are allergic to lidocaine
  • Have had a serious allergic reaction to other drugs
  • Have advanced wrinkles and very lax or sagging skin

Otherwise, most people who want to reverse the signs of aging or re-contour facial appearance without surgery are good candidates for treatment. In addition, a responsible program of injectable dermal fillers started at a younger age (late 20s or early 30s) can help to prevent lines and wrinkles from forming.

What are the benefits of Restylane?

Time is an insidious thief, stealing away about a teaspoon of moisture from the face every year. Restylane is a nonsurgical treatment designed to replace it. Benefits include:

  • Natural looking results that will not impede facial expressions
  • Improvement is visible immediately
  • Long-term maintenance only requires occasional touch-ups
  • There is no downtime and minimal side effects
  • Restylane treatment is long-lasing, but not permanent

What you need to know

The Restylane family of fillers includes Silk, Lyft (formerly Perlane), Refyne, and Defyne. Each product has unique properties, making it ideal for specific applications. Depending on your needs, Dr. Khrom may recommend one or several Restylane products. These fillers may be used alone, or in conjunction with other anti-aging solutions such as Botox.

Are Restylane injections painful?

Dermal filler injections are well-tolerated by most patients. Skin is numbed with a topical medication, and fillers are infused with lidocaine. The procedure is completed in a matter of minutes, with just a few comfortable injections using a fine needle.

What downtime to expect

You will be able to wear makeup and resume normal activities right away, without any downtime or significant recovery period. The most common side effects of Restylane include bruising, swelling, and redness at the injection sites. These are generally mild and fade away within a week.

Post-treatment instructions

For the most part, you can return to your normal daily routine after your injection appointment. You should avoid excessive alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, and extreme heat (sauna, hot tub, very hot shower, or facial waxing) the rest of the day. It is also best to avoid prolonged cold immediately after dermal filler injections.

If you have swelling at injection sites, apply cool compresses or ice packs intermittently. Any residual discomfort can be managed with an over-the-counter analgesic, but do not take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as they can increase bruising.

Restylane fillers integrate smoothly into skin, and our expert injectors are trained and experienced. However, if you feel a slight lump in the treatment area within the first 24 hours, it is fine to massage it gently.

You may cleanse your face normally, using gentle, high-quality skin care products. Please be sure to apply sunscreen every day for your overall skin health.

How many injection sessions are needed?

Most patients get the results they want with just one initial treatment – possibly two for a more extensive area. The doctor will work with you to determine a re-treatment schedule that makes sense with your unique body chemistry, to maintain youthful-looking skin.

How long does it take to see results?

Improvement is visible immediately! That is one of the biggest benefits of dermal filler injections. There is no waiting or wondering if change is occurring as expected, and no healing period. You can schedule injections just a few days in advance to look terrific for an important event.

How long will results last?

Several factors influence the longevity of fillers, including your physiology, facial animation, types of fillers used, and the injector’s skill in placing the product properly. However, Restylane has a very good reputation for long-lasting results:

  • Up to 18 months with full treatment for nasolabial folds.
  • About a year for other facial wrinkles, folds, and volumization.
  • Typically, six months for hand rejuvenation.
  • Three to six months for lip plumping and perioral lines.
