KeraLase™ therapy for thinning hair
After 6 years of extensive research, KeraFactor was designed to address thinning hair with a specific selection of 5 bio-identical (synthetically made to replicate human growth factors) growth factors and 2 skin proteins. Each growth factor’s concentration is significantly increased and tailored for scalp revitalization. This proprietary and patent-pending formula is individually wrapped in a nano-liposome casing for a “skin-friendly” delivery. This customized approach answers those typical growth factor deficiencies causing hair loss and poor scalp health. The skin proteins assist in scalp circulation as well as hair health.
KeraFactor delivers large quantities of key growth factors and proteins into the scalp that lead to significant improvement in scalp health and vascularization – leading to hair rejuvenation.
Extensive studies led us to discover that most patients with thinning hair and baldness lack certain key growth factors. If these growth factors are delivered in the right depths and concentrations, with the appropriate bioavailability profile like KeraFactor, dramatic improvement can be accomplished.
Lutronic offers technology which prepares the scalp prior to administration of Kerafactor. The Lutronic LaseMD system creates a conduit into the upper dermis in a no downtime, 5-10 minute treatment with minimal discomfort. Studies have shown the LaseMD 1927nm has been shown to enhance skin absorption over 5 times.
The 6 treatment protocol is easy to follow performing 1 treatment every 2 weeks for 12 weeks.
Serum is applied following the energy application and the patient is sent home with a KeraFactor product to be used in the morning and evening.
LaseMD is a 1927nm thulium laser that quickly and painlessly delivers energy to the scalp and upper dermis in a manner that slightly dries the scalp and creates microchannels which has shown to increase skin absorption over 5 times.
As a proven skin rejuvenation laser, LaseMD is an excellent choice as the laser only penetrates approximately 200 microns in a non-ablative manner (no bleeding or seeping).
One of the key functions of the skin is to protect the interior of the body from toxins, injury, etc.
While the nanoliposomes that hold the growth factors are quite small, the skin resists the penetration of the product. The Lutronic energy based technology (LaseMD) is optimized to prepare the skin for the KeraFactor serum and enable it to penetrate far more readily than with the skin intact.
One study showed that the LaseMD facilitates 5.5 times more skin absorption than without.
KeraFactor serum and take home product use similar bio-identical growth factors. The serum is high potency technology that is used following the application of the energy from the LaseMD.
The KeraFactor take home product is a lower concentration of growth factors, where the patient applies it on the scalp in the morning and evening between office treatments.
While everyone is different, patients can expect to start seeing improvement in scalp health, increase in hair shaft size, and a reduction of the appearance of thin hair by the end of the protocol. This assumes the patient has followed the treatment protocol as published. We cannot guarantee a response for ALL patients.
Patients who currently have or have been diagnosed with skin cancer should not use KeraFactor.
Patients with an active infection should not participate in the KeraFactor be treated with KeraFactor Any patient who experiences an allergic reaction to Kerafactor should stop using KeraFactor immediately and be examined by a dermatologist.
Patients with scarring alopecia, alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris, central centrifugal scarring alopecia. These forms of hair loss have not been tested and have underlying disease processes which may not be amenable to the treatments.
There have been patients who have maintained their results even after 18 months of stopping the use of KeraFactor. Once patients finish the protocol, they should continue using the take home to maintain the effect that has taken place.
We do encourage patients to return to their KeraFactor provider on occasion to examine the scalp and whether a retreatment is warranted.
As KeraFactor is a bio-identical hormone therapy, patients who respond will experience a natural progression in improvement and should look quite natural.
Hair transplant patients can gain tremendously from the KeraFactor program as it helps the transplanted follicles to thrive, as microcirculation is improved by the Kerafactor. In addition, the
existing hair remaining on the scalp will start to thicken as well, giving a more even, natural appearance
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a painful 45-minute procedure where blood is drawn from the patient, then spun in a centrifuge to increase the patient’s platelets, and then applied or injected into the scalp. Results are inconsistent. Only the growth factors available in the patient’s own blood will be released.
If a patient is highly deficient in a growth factor(s) needed for hair health, then the PRP procedure may not be effective. Additionally, one of the common growth factors found in blood, TGF b1, may block the transition of hair follicles into the anagen (new growth) phase.
Applied topically after non-RF microneedling, PRP is very ineffective since very little of the PRP solution gets absorbed. Studies have shown that immediately after the microneedles were withdrawn from the skin, the “holes” without coagulation close and osmotic pressure pushes any cosmeceutical or solution out of the wounds In contrast to PRP, KeraFactor products include a proprietary formula with high concentrations of bio-identical growth factors and skin proteins specifically customized for people with thinning hair.
a. KeraFactor researchers not only had 50 different growth factors to choose from, but any growth factors that negatively impact hair growth (e.g., TGF b1) were excluded. Each of the selected growth factors were individually wrapped in nano-liposomes to increase skin absorption. The concentration of each nano-liposome was then increased to the desired concentration to address typical growth factor deficiencies associated with thinning hair.
b. The customization of growth factors differs from the PRP (and stem cell therapies) which start with only those growth factors existing in the patient’s blood and may not provide hair growth factors for optimally addressing thinning hair.
c. Treating the scalp with a LaseMD system prior to application of the KeraFactor serum further improves skin absorption.
