LaseMD Patient Post-Treatment Instructions
- Patients may feel a mild burning sensation for one to two hours following the treatment. An ice pack applied to the treated area can provide relief. The ice pack must be enclosed in dry, sterile gauze to stop water from penetrating the tissue in the treated area.
- Keep the treatment area moisturized. After a day, gently wash and pat the skin dry for two days. Do not scrub the treated area. Moisturize daily. Usually, any crust will separate naturally within five to seven days after the treatment.
- Please do not use cosmetics which contain active ingredients such as Retinol or AHA after treatment without prior permission from the doctor.
- Avoid exercising for the first week following the treatment, or until primary healing has completed. Increasing redness may develop with any activity that stimulates blood flow or increases body temperature (e.g. Exercise, alcohol consumption, and sauna).
- Avoid using cosmetics containing alcohol for at least one week after treatment.
- For at least 20 days after treatment, apply UV A/B sunblock daily with SPF of at least 30. Use a hat, an umbrella, or any other available protection against sunlight while spending time outdoors.

What can I expect after LaseMD treatments?
Many patients will notice immediate results after their first LaseMD treatment. The skin is softer and smoother, and the skin tone is more even. What kind of downtime can I expect?
Many patients experience minimal downtime following their LaseMD treatments. Though the skin may be red and tender for the next few hours, this does not inhibit many of our patients at all. In fact, most are able to wear cosmetics to cover up the redness and return to work or exercise. Some patients may be worried about their skin’s redness and may choose to take a day of social downtime to recover following their laser treatment sessions. This is entirely up to the patient, and we can make recommendations based on their skin’s current condition. Some patients who have more aggressive treatments performed may want to schedule their appointment on a Friday afternoon and allow the weekend for the skin to calm.
How long will the results last?
Skin will continue to age — there is no way to completely stop the signs of aging. However, patients who are proactive in their skin care and undergo routine treatments will be able to slow the signs of aging and continually enhance the health and appearance of their skin. What is an ablative fractional treatment?
This is something that we do with a Smartskin CO2 laser, but it requires more downtime on the patient’s part.
Who is a good candidate for this procedure?
Those that have deeper line and lines around the mouth or the smoker’s lines and more server sun damage this is the ideal procedure.
Does it require numbing?
Usually it is done under local numbing with a topical numbing cream and usually, a 5 – 7-day recover is required where the patient actually has to stay home and gives beautiful results.

What should I expect after the Total GLO treatment?
You will see a bit of redness immediately after the treatment, which should diminish by the next day, when you can apply makeup. Over the next couple of days after receiving your first treatment, you may experience some dryness and flakiness, which can be alleviated by applying the LaseMD cream several times throughout the day. As the skin heals, you may see some light sloughing as it begins to reveal softer, brighter skin. Depending on the depth treatment, healing time can last anywhere from 1-6 days, but most clients see their results within two to five days. If you receive monthly Total GLO treatments as part of a maintenance routine, you will likely experience decreased healing time after the initial treatment.
Is there any downtime?
While there will be some visible redness right after the treatment, you will be able to immediately resume your normal activities.
