Major survey spotlights novel factors influencing acne

Cannabis is a major factor influencing acne, as revealed by Dermatologist Delphine Kerob, MD at the annual congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.

Major survey spotlights novel factors influencing acne

According to a study sponsored by Vichy Laboratories in Paris, of which Dr. Kerob is international medical director, 21.1% of acne patients used cannabis, compared with 16.6% of controls without acne. The Internet-based survey included 2,826 acne patients and 3,853 controls, and covered several countries.

Other exposome factors (a patient’s external and internal environment, apart from genetics, which influence acne) are nutrition, air pollution, lifestyle and psychological factors, medications, skin care products, and climate.
