If you’re like many adults, you’re fed up with shaving, waxing, tweezing, and other forms of hair removal and are looking for a permanent solution to get rid of unwanted hair. Many patients of Dr. Tatiana Khrom of Khrom Dermatology & Aesthetics in Brooklyn, NY, come to her for her expert skill and experience. Patients who want to remove unwanted hair know that she’ll provide the right treatment, using the best laser hair removal technology, for their individual needs.
About Splendor X
While there are many hair removal systems on the market, Dr. Khrom uses Splendor X, a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle beams of light to remove unwanted hair follicles permanently. It can be used to treat hair on the face or body. Men and women often find great results using it to treat small areas such as the bikini line, upper lip, or chin or larger areas such as the legs, chest, or back.
Splendor X works by using gentle heat to damage the hair follicle, which permanently stops it from producing hair. Further, the technology is so targeted that it damages the hair follicle but doesn’t harm the surrounding skin or tissue.
What to expect during treatment
Prior to the treatment’s beginning, a topical lotion with a mild anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area. This numbs the sensations felt from the laser. The laser beams are aimed at the skin via a small hand-held device. Most patients report some mild discomfort—similar to that of being snapped with a tiny rubber band. The length of treatment depends on how large an area is being treated.
Following treatment, patients can typically resume their normal activities immediately. Some may notice that the treated area is red or slightly bumpy. This can be further treated by using an ice pack. Sun exposure should be avoided for approximately six weeks following the treatment as the treated area can become very sensitive to the sun.
Am I a candidate for Spledor X?
This type of laser hair removal is most effective on patients with dark hair. Because it works when the melanin in the hair absorbs the light, individuals with blond, light red, or gray hair may not achieve their desired results. Further, those adults who have greater contrast between the skin and hair are also more likely to achieve the best results.

It’s also important to note that most patients require at least three and sometimes more sessions to eliminate the hair fully. This is because of their hair’s growth patterns.
