Brooklyn, NY dermatologist offers skin rejuvenation options for all skin types and needs

At Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics, we are committed to investing in our practice to provide patients with some of the latest, state-of-the-art solutions for the skin, hair, nails, and body. Our practice is equipped with solutions for patients in the Brooklyn, NY area who are seeking skin rejuvenation solutions. Individuals with loose skin and fine lines and wrinkles may find that skin rejuvenation using our new Infini device is the most effective treatment of them all!

What is Infini face treatment?

Dr. Tatiana Khrom of Brooklyn, NY describes the Infini device as one of the most effective solutions for aging skin with poor texture and tone. This device is a special handheld piece that uses radiofrequency energy to provide microneedling in a way never thought possible. The radiofrequency (RF) energy is used to stimulate tissue production and improve volume in the skin. This, in turn, tightens the skin and provides patients with a minimally invasive and affordable way to enhance their appearance and enjoy a more revitalized look.

What can Infini be used for?

Infini is used for patients who are seeking a way to:
  • Stimulate the production of collagen and elastin naturally
  • Tighten the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Firm lax skin on the face, neck, and jowls
  • Turn back time without plastic surgery and invasive procedures

Why radiofrequency technology?

Dr. Tatiana Khrom of Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics is a Board-certified dermatologist who has seen the results patients have been able to achieve with the use of radiofrequency energy. RF energy is a type of electrical energy that is used to heat the targeted area and deliver treatment that stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin deep within the skin for improving the tissues and tightening the skin. This multipolar device provides multi-dimensional energy deep within the skin’s layers. When combined with the very small, sterilized needles on the handpiece, patients can enjoy microneedling results as well. These tips are used to puncture the skin and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen. Between the radiofrequency energy and the microneedling, patients will see results faster than with either treatment alone.

Where can Infini be used?

There are many ways in which we can use the technology in our practice, but we do find that Infini works best on the facial and neck areas. The face, neck, jowls, and even the décolletage are the areas best suited for Infini treatments, as they provide noticeable skin tightening and skin resurfacing results in these areas.

Can I combine Infini with other dermatological procedures?

Absolutely! At Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics, Dr. Tatiana Khrom may suggest combining Infini skin rejuvenation services with LaseMD to achieve the best results. The combination of these two treatments is called Total GLO. Other services available in the office include cosmetic injectables. Cosmetic injectables are often used to focus on fine lines and wrinkles on the facial area, and when combined with radiofrequency energy, provide unsurpassed results. Injectables may include neuromodulators such as Dysport or Botox, dermal fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane, or collagen stimulators such as Radiesse and Sculptra.

What skin type is best for Infini?

In the past, it was difficult for dermatological providers to use certain devices on specific types of skin because of poor results. However, because needles are insulated, Infini can be used on darker skin types. We encourage patients to consider this treatment to improve their appearance without having to worry about side effects that may have happened in the past with the use of certain devices. Many issues on the skin can be improved with skin rejuvenation services such as Infini.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

While results may be seen after just one treatment, it is best for patients to undergo a series of treatment sessions to get the best results. We typically recommend patients consider two or more treatments for the results to be noticeable by others. Treatments are often spaced several weeks apart. Some patients choose to address their current problem with treatment, and then undergo treatment periodically over time to maintain the results and keep the skin refreshed and revitalized.

Does it hurt to have radiofrequency treatments?

Many of our patients find that the discomfort that they feel during Infini treatments is tolerated well. However, we will still utilize an anesthetic cream on the skin that helps in numbing the area prior to providing treatment. The discomfort felt after the numbing cream is often a mild snap or stinging sensation that is rather mild and well-tolerated. To minimize anxiety and discomfort from the procedure, we provide PRONOX, an innovative system that involves 50/50 combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen.

What are the side effects of Infini?

There are minimal side effects that may be noticed after Infini. Some patients have slight bruising, however, most just experience red, sensitive skin for approximately 24 hours. Patients will not experience any downtime and can return to their normal activities following treatment sessions with Dr. Tatiana Khrom.

Which treatment is right for me?

There are many skin rejuvenation services available at Khrom Dermatology for patients to choose from. The best way to make an informed decision is to schedule a consultation appointment with our team to assess the skin and discuss the various methods that may be used to get the results you want. We offer patients a wide selection of treatment options to choose from to meet their financial and physical needs.

Acne scar treatment rejuvenates and smooths skin

Acne and acne scarring are two common reasons patients in the Brooklyn, NY area seek treatment by a dermatological professional. Active acne can be embarrassing for men and women alike, and the acne marks left behind are often unsightly and a permanent reminder of the acne that may have already been treated. Dr. Tatiana Khrom and her team of professionals at Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics provide a variety of options for patients who have acne scarring and are seeking effective removal. With our skin rejuvenation treatments, acne scars can be a distant memory!

Treatment for unsightly acne scars

Active acne is problematic enough for patients, but even after the condition has cleared, many times it leaves behind acne scars. Removal of these marks can be achieved in a few ways with the team at Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics. But first, it is important for patients to understand what brings acne scars about. Acne scars are often a result of inflamed and infected lesions on the skin, including papules, pustules, and cysts that break deep within the follicle wall. This destroys the healthy skin tissue around the lesion, stimulating the skin’s natural healing process of developing new collagen fibers. Unfortunately, the healing process leaves a scar that is often noticeable on the skin and can take a very long time to heal — if ever. This can result in a variety of acne scars on the skin.

What types of acne scars may occur?

There are several types of acne scars that can develop, and each has its own appearance.
  • Keloid (hypertrophic) scarring – this is a scar that is a raised area on the skin caused by the production of too much collagen.
  • Atrophic (depressed) scarring – this is a scar that develops due to tissue loss, and the most common types of atrophic scars are boxcar scars, ice pick scars, as well as rolling scars.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) – while not a scar in the traditional sense, this is a discoloration of the skin that can be caused by acne and may eventually fade over time.

How can I prevent the chances of acne scars from developing?

There is no tried-and-true way to completely prevent acne scars from occurring, because the skin often heals in different ways when it is injured. However, there are some considerations to think about that may reduce the chance of developing scars due to acne blemishes.
  • Treating acne – when acne is present, it can be treated with the help of a dermatology professional such as the team at Khrom Dermatology and Aesthetics. Our Board-certified professionals can assess the type of acne present and provide effective treatment options for patients to choose from. Getting the condition under control will eliminate the acne present, therefore making acne scars a problem of the past!
  • Reduction of inflammation – the acne that is most likely to leave behind acne scars are the large and inflamed breakouts. Inflammation can be combated to reduce the development of these types of scars. Patients should work with their dermatologist to find calming skin cleansers and topical solutions that may reduce redness and inflammation.
  • Avoid picking at pimples – while the first instinct for many patients is to pop their pimples, it is best to avoid doing so. Picking and squeezing pimples can cause debris and infection to go deeper into the skin and result in an infection and more inflammation. Instead, it is best to leave pimples alone to avoid extending the time needed to heal and to reduce the chance of scabs forming on the skin. If scabs do develop, leave those alone as well, as this is the skin’s way of healing on its own.

Acne mark removal

When patients visit our practice to ask about the removal of acne scars, we recommend different options. Many of the treatments we use have the added benefit of revitalizing and renewing your skin tone and texture in addition to treating your acne scars.

  • TCA cross (physician peel) – 70 to 100 percent TCA is applied to treat icepick scars.
  • Subcision – This procedure breaks the fibrotic strands, which tie the scar to the underlying tissue. This lifts the depression.
  • Subcision combined with Sculptra – Sculptra will stimulate new collagen production.
  • Laser acne scar removal – another option for our patients is laser removal with resurfacing services. Laser devices have been used in the medical field for many years and have been found to be a terrific way to stimulate new skin cells and promote healing with collagen and elastin production. This treatment is non-invasive yet effective at addressing large areas of scarring such as rolling scars. Patients can ask about this and dermal fillers as options for addressing acne scars. We use fractional ablative CO 2 Laser and the non-ablative Icon Laser for scar treatment. In addition, we use Infini RF with insulated needles to improve atrophic scars in any skin type.
